It was an uneventful day at work for taxi driver Izy Rashid when he was instructed by 78-year-old Barry Stone to deliver a package containing £12,000 cash to an address in London.
Something didn’t seem right so Izy asked him who the package was for.
Mr Rashid told Bucks Free Press,
“When I asked him what was in the package he said it was a present for his son. It didn’t sound right to me so I pressured him to tell me what was really going on.”
It turns out that Mr Stone had received a call from scammers pretending to be the Police who had told him they were investigating fraud and had asked him to withdraw all of his money and send it to them using a taxi.
Mr Stone fell for the scam and proceeded to withdraw his life savings from the bank before calling Neales Taxis where Izy works.
When Izy realised what was going on, he informed his office and the police were called. He said,
“I could have kept the money which was so easy to do but both my faith and morals don’t allow me to keep other people’s belongings.
Mr Stone thanked Izy and describing him as a “wonderful man”.
