Non-Muslim Neighbours Touched by Ramadan Gift from Young Girls

Two girls aged 4 and 7 wanted to share the spirit of Ramadan with their neighbours so with help from their mum, they prepared gifts of chocolates and dates for their neighbours.

They included a message with the gift explaining what Ramadan is about:

Dear Neighbour,

Ramadan is a special month of the year for over 1.8 billion Muslims throughout the world. It is a time for inner reflection, contemplation, discipline, giving charity, purifying one’s behaviour and doing good deeds as a means of coming closer to God. Youth and adults who are healthy, will not eat or drink anything from dawn to dusk for 30 days as a means of attaining closeness to God. As a secondary goal, fasting is a way of experiencing hunger and developing sympathy for the less fortunate and learning to be thankful for and appreciate all of God’s bounties.

We would like to share the spirit of Ramadan with you. We hope you enjoy these dates. Most Muslims break their fast at sunset with dates as was the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

Warm Regards, Your neighbour

A week later, they received this lovely message from a couple of their neighbours,

I’m sorry I was unable to see what you were showing me on my doorstep last week. When my wife told me what the present was and what your message said. I thought it (was) one of the greatest things I had heard of. We were extremely touched be the wonderful sentiments that lay behind it.

Thank you very much for making our week so special.

Kind regards.

What a lovely act and what a beautiful response!
