This is the story of Amina who was abandoned by her husband shortly after she fell pregnant.
She didn’t have any family in the UK and was struggling to pay her rent. She stopped eating so that she could keep up rent payments and avoid becoming homeless.
Amina was then approached to sell her body in return for money but she refused and said she would rather die of hunger.
“When I told them I was pregnant and I don’t have money for food, they said to me that I need to use my body then I will get money.”
Thankfully, she found a charity called the National Zakat Foundation who help hundreds like her in the UK.
After assessing her situation, they gave her money for food and accommodation.
A few months later, she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and both mother and baby are now safe.
