Edris Nosrati, a 35 year-old Muslim man put himself in harms way as he tried to stop three drunken men from attacking random passers by.
Edris was going home after a night out with friends in Liverpool when he witnessed three men attacking a man who was with his girlfriend.
Shocked by the incident, he confronted the three men and he was told “it’s none of your business”.
Edris followed them from a distance and called the police, meanwhile witnessing them punching another man in the face whilst one of them recorded it on his phone.
The police were able to stop the gang in their tracks from carrying out an attack on their seventh victim.
However, in addition to his testimony, Edris also helped police obtain crucial evidence recorded on the phone of one of the three assailants by grabbing the phone before the video was deleted
“He punched me in the face but eventually I got him in a headlock and down on the floor.
“Finally I got the mobile and gave it to the police.” said Edris.
The take-away owner is pleased that the men have been brought to justice. He said, “It doesn’t matter if you’re Muslim, Jewish, Christian or whatever – horrible people are horrible people.”
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever among you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand [by taking action]; if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out]; and if he cannot, then with his heart [by hating it and feeling that it is wrong] – and that is the weakest of faith” (Narrated by Muslim).
