Dear Resham and Jameel.
As I was listening to the distressing account of the reprehensible acid attack that you faced, my heart ached with a severe pain; incomparable to the excruciating pain that you both had to encounter. Admittedly, I initially tried to avoid clicking the link that displayed your story due to the alarming headline that accompanied it, however as much as it would upset me, the least I could do at that moment was to lend an attentive ear to listen to the heart-rending account of what took place.
Resham, I am so sorry that this had to happen to you. You have your life ahead of you and had aspirations to chase yet a hate-mongering, inhumane, sadistic, cruel and barbaric antagonist attempted to throw away them very aspirations you had as he simultaneously threw his acid on you; something that you did not provoke, breed, instigate or deserve to the minutest degree. As hard as it can be, please do not let this terrible attack stop you from chasing your dreams and although it has largely impacted you with your mention of how your old self has ‘gone forever’, there is always light at the end of the tunnel and after every difficulty there will be ease, as Allāh The All Aware has informed us in his revelation.
Jameel, we take our hats off to your heroism and the brave steps that you took to deal with the awful situation. I express my deepest sorrows and empathy to the agony and pain that you had and have to go through; emotionally and physically. You were a blameless and innocent victim to a horrendous and vicious attack by an immoral perpetrator. Although the procedures and future stages may not be easy to endure, despair not as justice and comfort will come, as Allāh The Comforter and The Just has informed us in his revelation.
“Know, that you are in our prayers and we wish you patience, ease, comfort, contentment and a speedy recovery.”
Remember, that if he attacked you because of you are Muslim, you were attacked only because you utter lā ʾilāha ʾillā llāh muḥammadun rasūlullāh¹, a phrase which will earn you eternal bliss and paradise free from the trials of this world.
This life is temporary and a blink of an eye compared to the eternal life of the hereafter and know that you will not be unpaid for the trials you had to go through. Our Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ informed us that sins will be removed and one’s ranks will be raised even if a thorn pricks a believer due to the pain they had to go through, so just imagine the incomprehensible and everlasting treasures that The Most Merciful has prepared for you.
If you need any form of help or assistance, please do not hesitate to award me and the rest of our brothers and sisters with the pleasure of helping you. Know, that you are in our prayers and we wish you patience, ease, comfort, contentment and a speedy recovery.
Your humble brother, Luqmaan.
Muslims are like one body of a person; if the eye is sore, the whole body aches, and if the head aches, the whole body aches – Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ
Verily, We shall put you to test with some fear, and hunger, and with some loss of wealth, lives, and offspring. And (O Muhammad) convey good tidings to those who are patient, who say, when inflicted by hardship, “Verily we are of God and verily to Him shall we return;” upon them is the blessings of Allah and His mercy. (Qur’ān- 2:155)
