Heroic Muslim Stops Cowardly Terrorist at Norway Mosque

A heroic Muslim man aged 65 stopped a heavily armed terrorist at the Al-Noor Mosque in Norway yesterday and prevented what could have been a massacre.

The terrorist, armed with two fully loaded shotguns, a hand pistol whilst wearing a helmet and body armour entered the Al-Noor Mosque in what was thought to have been inspired by the Christchurch terror attack in which 51 people were gunned down at two mosques in New Zealand.

Imam Dr. Waleed Hakeem posted the following on his Facebook page:

“My inbox is flooded asking if I’m still alive after the attempted mass shooting at Al-Noor Mosque in Norway today. Alhamdulillah, here is the full story:

A 20 year old white terrorist came inside the Masjid in the town of Baerum, near the capital Oslo, with 2 fully loaded shotguns and a hand pistol, wearing a helmet and body armour, as if he is ready for war, inspired by the New Zealand terrorist!

He shot at glass door and broke it, then proceeded inside to shoot at the Masjid attendees just after Asr prayer. By the blessing of Allah, and due to the heroism of a 65 year old brother, he risked his life by running towards the shooter and forced him against the floor until the others overpowered him. Not all heroes are wearing capes!

Our brother, the hero, got injured while stopping the attack, and we ask Allah to give him a quick recovery and his family patience! Also thanks to Allah, it seems that the terrorist thought mistakenly that today was Eid, as the damage could have been much worse with a large attendance at Eid prayer!

Norway is statistically one of the top 5 safest countries in the world, but no matter how safe, there will always be a few crazy people in each country. Norwegians are some of the kindest and most tolerant people on this planet, and they are against any violence, no matter what the political difference is! They have opened their country to Muslims affected by war and took very good care of them! We ask Allah to guide those kind people and protect them!”

The Imam called on Muslim communities to be vigilant on the day of Eid:

“Jazakum Allah Khair for asking about me. It truly means a lot. We as Muslims in the West must always be vigilant and well-prepared in these difficult times. We ask Allah subhanahu wa taala to keep Muslims safe in the whole world, and especially our brothers and sisters in Kashmir these days! May Allah accept from you your deeds in Arafah day, and reward our muslim hero with Firdaws. Ameen!

P.S. Last point, please be careful tomorrow during Eid prayers. A few brothers should watch out and protect their brothers and sisters while they are praying (and they will get the full reward of Eid prayer even if they have to pray later on their own, due to their intention). We pray Allah makes it safe for everyone tomorrow insha’Allah!”
