Six Approaches to Better Well-being

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim – In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

According to research carried out, evidence has overwhelmingly shown that if you apply these approaches into practice in your daily life, you can feel better physically, emotionally and mentally Insha’Allah.

1. Communicate and Connect

Try your best to connect with others around you such as your family, friends and colleagues. Building these connections will enrich you and enable you to be supported. This can also add to your general happiness.

2. Be Active

It is important that you are active whether it means going for a walk, attending the gym or simply doing things. This will help take your mind off things and allow you to feel good.

3. Take Notice

Learn to be aware of the things around you and be more curious. Look at all the beautiful things around you such as nature. Remember it’s always the little things that make a big difference so be more observant and take notice.

4. Keep Learning

We can never stop learning in life. Learning new things can stimulate your mind, allow you to appreciate things more and at the same time you can have fun!

5. Give Back

Do something for someone else. It’s easy to smile, help others and just be kind. Try to do one good deed a day if you can. You will find this to be highly rewarding and greatly satisfying.

6. Reflect and Pray

This is something that is absolutely crucial. Reflecting on your experiences will help you to appreciate what matters. Ask Allah to help you and guide you. Never give up!

Final Thoughts

In doing all this, I can assure you that Insha’Allah it will improve your health and general well-being. However please remember that by also eating right and looking after yourself physically will also be good for your own mental health.

Always remember that none of us are superhuman and if things are getting too much for you and you feel as though you can’t cope, please ask for HELP! Most importantly, take care of YOU!!

For further tips on more strategies, I would strongly recommend you speak to your GP, a counsellor, an expert or seek assistance from Mind or the Mental Health Foundation.

Wassalamu’alaykum - May peace and blessings be with you.
