7 Good Deeds You Can Do When it Snows

Muslims should strive to live a life of Ihsaan (excellence) and no opportunity for a good deed should be wasted even if it is small.

Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Do not belittle any good deed, even meeting your brother with a cheerful face”. (Muslim)

Snow is not common in many parts of the UK such as London so here are 7 good deeds which you can do when it snows, some of which you can only do when there is snow!

1. Thank Allah

First and foremost, thank Allah for protecting you from the harsh weather conditions. Thank Allah for giving you a warm, heated home and thank Him for blessing you with warm clothes.

2. Pray for those who are less fortunate

Pray for those around the world who are homeless or cannot afford warm clothes and blankets to keep them warm.

3. Be kind to your neighbour

If you know your neighbour will be driving to work in the morning and you are removing snow from your own car, remove snow from your neighbour’s car too.

4. Clear the ice

When snow starts to melt, it turns into ice. This can make some areas of the pavement dangerous to walk on. Grab a broom and clean the ice from the pavement in front of your neighbours’ homes and on your street. Using a bucket of hot water can make the task easier.

5. Check up on elderly neighbours

If you have elderly neighbours, check up on them and ensure their heating is working and that they are warm. Offer to buy groceries for them as it may be difficult for them to go shopping.

6. Help the homeless

If you are aware of a homeless person in your area, buy them a warm blanket to help them through the cold weather and offer them a hot drink. Find out if there are any homeless shelters open and guide them to the right place.

7. Have a snow fight with your family ?

Have a snow fight with your family with the intention of making them happy and putting a smile on their faces!

If you have any good deed ideas which can be done when it’s snowing, share them in the comments section.
