I Just Discovered Something on Mount Uhud in Madinah

I was researching something about Madinah Al Munawwarah on Google Maps using the satellite mode feature when I noticed something on Mount Uhud. The mountain is famous because the battle of Uhud took place by it in which the mountain played a strategic role in the battle.

The following shows Mount Uhud and the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid An Nabawi) to its south:

If you zoom into Mount Uhud, you’ll notice something:

what is this on uhud 1

Zoom a little closer:

It says ‘الله’ God in Arabic!

See it for yourself here

Then I done a comparison to the Prophet’s Mosque to get an idea of its size and it seems to be pretty big:

How did the writing get there, who wrote it and why? These questions remain unanswered. If you know the answer please leave a comment below.
