10 Tips for the Last 10 Nights of Ramadan

1. These 10 Nights of Ramadan are the BEST 10 Nights of the Year.

Every deed you do is multiplied generously by Allah (swt), so set your sincere intention from now. Take advantage and don’t waste any time, even if it means forcing yourself through phases of laziness and procrastination; you’ll have no regrets over doing good in these nights, but you will have regrets if you waste them. If you didn’t do well in your first 20 days of Ramadan, you can make up for it with these final 10 nights.

2. Memorize this Special Du’aa.

afu

You should make this du’aa throughout these ten nights, as was taught by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):

الْلَّهُمَّ اِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

Allaahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibb al-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni
(O Allah, You are forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive me).

3. Seek the Night of Decree Properly.

laylat al qadr

Don’t trick yourself into thinking that you know when Laylatul Qadr is, it could be any of these ten nights. Do you really want to risk losing out on the reward of 1000+ months of worship (83+ years of deeds added to your scale for every deed that night)?

“Whoever stands in prayer on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” [al-Bukhari]

This is the night in which the Decree is shown to the Angels as well, and it reflects one’s provisions, blessings, trials, punishments, life, and death, so you should strive to be of the people who are worshiping Allah on this night.

4. Prepare a list of Du’aa and Put Your Heart Into It.

These are nights of increased acceptance! One of these is the Night of Decree so make du’aa for yourself, your family, and our brothers and sisters who are suffering around the world. The people you pray for will benefit from your du’aa, and you will as well. Continue with the du’aa after Ramadan.

5. Try to Nap During the Day So That You Can Worship Allah at Night.

Keep your intention for His sake to sleep so that you can wake up energized for worship, and that sincere intention will bring about His blessing in your energy.

6. Try to Avoid Social Networks

whatsapp

Focus instead on pure ‘ibadah; remember, these are the best ten nights of the year. Disconnect from the Internet (if it’s not urgent) and connect yourself to Allah (swt). If you’re doing I’tikaaf (seclusion in the mosque), don’t sleep through the obligatory prayers such as Dhuhr and ‘Asr.

7. Include a lot of Qur’an recitation

Quran

Add translation to that if you don’t understand, as well as dhikr (glorification of Allah), prayer as long as you can, and a lot of du’aa. Even during the daytime when you have work or classes, keep your tongue on the remembrance of Allah. SubhanAllah, wal Hamdulillaah, wa laa ilaaha illaAllah, wAllahu Akbar. Constantly. Astaghfirullaah, Astaghfirullaah, Astaghfirullaah.

8. Be Patient Through Your Other Tasks, Such as Work or School.

Acknowledge that you have been given a huge blessing by being alive as we know others who didn’t make it this far; they would wish to come back for just one of these blessed ten nights. Imagine this is your last time to experience these ten nights (really believe that) and motivate yourself to excel as much as possible.

9. Give Charity Throughout These 10 Days and Nights

You’ll be guaranteed that your charity fell onto Laylatul Qadr – better than 1000 months of worship!

10. Motivate Others – your family, friends, and community to take these ten nights seriously.

If someone invites you to ‘chill’ or ‘kill time’ all night, invite him/her to pray with you, recite Qur’an, and make du’aa. Wake up your family if possible and worship Allah (swt) together. Truly, the deprived person is the one who misses out on Laylatul Qadr and the blessings of Ramadan.

May Allah bless our time and accept from us on Laylatul Qadr. O Allah, allow our good deeds to continue throughout the year as a sign of the acceptance of our deeds in Ramadan.
